Had that been the attitude of a generation that lived and fought through WWII, I’m not sure where our country would be today. What provided fortitude and perseverance for that generation, during very trying times, was they lived life with an eye on the future.
John Bachman, anchoman for Des Moines’ WHO-TV, wrote an interesting and very pointed opinion article for the Des Moines Business Record recently. It could serve as a useful reminder for us, maybe even an admonishment - that we need to change some pretty entrenched lifestyle habits.
It might be useful for credit unions to review some of the thoughts expressed in the article. It might help them be a little better prepared for how to help consumers - who would be their members. If we indeed are about helping members, we need to be prepared to…….help them. Help them change their behavior as it pertains to living for the moment; to a more stable behavior of work and sacrifice and saving.
Read it! I think you will like it.
